We have aimed to cover all the questions that we are frequently asked here but if there's something we've missed then please feel free to get in touch!
What is the Reservation Fee?
The Reservation Fee is a AU$100 prepayment made at the time of reservation. Once we receive your reservation we will commence booking with your pet transport company to have a PetTrakr device placed on your pet's travel crate for their journey. Once they confirm that your trip is possible we will send you an invoice for the balance of the Trip fee.
Should your pet transport company be unable to accommodate a PetTrakr booking then we will refund the AU$100 Reservation Fee to you.
What is the Device Return Deposit?
The Device Return Deposit is to help us ensure that the device is safely returned to us. The deposit is AU$300 and will be fully refunded to the original payment method once we have confirmation of posting. We provide prepaid courier return satchels that can be dropped off at your closest courier collection point. We try to make this as simple and as painless for you as possible but do get in touch if you have any issues or questions.
Which airlines have approved the ZiSO PetTrakr?
The ZiSO PetTrakr device has been rigorously tested and is approved for use on board the following airlines:
What you will see once the trip is active
A PetTrakr device will be attached to your pet’s crate and once the trip is active, the device will send an update every ten minutes. Each update consists of a time-stamped photograph taken looking into your pet‘s crate. At the bottom of each photograph is a blue 'MAP' link. Clicking on this link will open Google Maps with a red pin showing the location where the photograph was taken. This may open in either the Google Maps app or in a new browser page depending on whether you are on a mobile device and have the Google Maps app installed.
The photos
Most pets will spend their time looking out of the crate door. The PetTrakr device will be mounted behind your pet which will be your viewpoint for following along. Ultimately it must be remembered that these are completely candid photos; our objective is for you to be able to 'ride along' with your pet but we hope that you get some great photos on the way!
Can I share individual updates with friends and family?
Yes, in addition to sharing the whole trip link you can easily share individual photos. On a mobile device simply long press a photo and select ‘share’. This will open your device's sharing menu and offer you any social media or email apps you have installed.
If you are sharing any photos publicly we would be delighted if you tag us too:

What if I can't see my pet?
This means they're either not in the crate, (for example when they are let out of their crate at a transit layover facility) or they're just having a snooze and are below the 'eye line' of the camera. A useful way to tell whether your pet is in the crate is to zoom in on the corners of the crate door and look for the black zip ties used to secure the door against accidental opening. All four corners of the door will be zip tied if your pet is in the crate.
What if the photo is black?
This usually means your pet is on board the aircraft and the hold door has been closed in readiness for departure. Most airlines will dim, or turn off completely, the hold lights at this point. We can't use a camera flash as this may be disturbing to pets.
GPS accuracy
GPS is rarely completely accurate. There are a number of technical reasons for this, most obviously buildings or the aircraft itself may be degrading GPS signals. Each update will include a GPS accuracy indication below the ‘MAP’ link. Lower numbers are more accurate. A GPS accuracy of 50 metres, for example, means that the location shown will be within 50 metres of the actual location. Should GPS accuracy ever not be within 1000 metres then no map location or accuracy will be given.
What if there is a delay?
The PetTrakr itinerary shows scheduled times of departure. The PetTrakr device will keep sending updates while it is not in flight, so if your pet's flight is delayed then updates will continue to appear until the flight takes off. Where delays occur FlightRadar24.com will be able to give you the updated flight information.
During the flight
Transmitting devices are strictly regulated by all airlines with regard to when they are allowed to transmit. The PetTrakr device, in common with all cargo tracking devices, automatically shuts down to a non-transmitting 'flight mode' when it detects flight conditions. Once your pet‘s flight has taken off no updates will be sent so there will be a period where you will not see any updates. You can still follow your pet's progress by clicking the FlightRadar24.com link shown on the 'In Flight' banner. This will show once the flight's scheduled time of departure has passed, but note that you will need to search for the flight number (for example "QR901") on FlightRadar24.
Once the flight lands
Landing is the most critical phase of flight and radio frequency transmission has the theoretical potential to interfere with the aircraft’s navigation systems used during instrument landings. The ZiSO device is configured to recommence transmission only once it senses that it is firmly on the ground. It may take 30 to 60 minutes for the first update to come through once your pet's flight has landed. Keep in mind that after landing your pet‘s aircraft may have 15 to 20 minutes of taxi time before arriving at the gate and it may take a further 10 to 15 minutes for the hold door to be open. During this time any updates received may show a black or dimly lit photograph with no location.
During transit rest stops/layovers
Many pet flights will include a layover between two flights where your pet will rest outside of their travel crate in a kennels or cattery at a dedicated pet transit facility. Once your pet has vacated their crate updates may be paused to conserve the device’s battery and will recommence four hours prior to the scheduled time of departure of their onward flight.
After arrival at destination
Updates will usually continue until the stated Trip End time so there may be number of updates showing an empty crate or, if the device has been detached and placed in its return satchel, a black photograph. Your pet should, by this time, have been joyfully reunited with you or your designated receiver!
